Attending:
Ellie Abboud, Nancy Graham, Bruce McCutcheon, Janice Page, Gunnar Quist, Carol Seymour, Dwight Sipler, Bill Warden, Barry Wright
We got together at the home of George Hansell in Newark DE to do further planning for our reunion which will take place in a day less than a year. Everyone has been pleasantly surprised at the number of classmates who have been located (kudos to Dwight Sipler and Harry Habbersett) and the number who plan to attend the reunion.
We discussed various possible events and agreed to the tentative schedule. We agreed to separate the Saturday lunch/afternoon events (and charge $25 per person for them) from the dinner/evening events (for which we will charge $75 per person). The Sunday Brunch will also be priced separately.
1. | Dwight will develop a document which will serve as a picture name tag, schedule of, and passport to the various events. It will be available as classmates arrive at the Swarthmore Community Center, or at the Springfield Country Club for those who join us later. |
2. | Nony is working with various local food vendors and will organize lunch, we will probably need some volunteers to arrive a little early to help set it up. |
3. | It was agreed that it would be fun to gather all the afternoon reunion attendees who participated in various extra-curricular activities (the school sanctioned ones) and take a photo of each group. Details to be determined (TBD). |
4. | Bill Warden is developing a "Guess Who" panel with photos of classmates hidden by paper flaps with clues. It will be a "self test" so each of us can see what we remember about our classmates. |
5. | Bill is also developing a trivia quiz in the form of a crossword puzzle. He only showed us two sample clues and we all admired his creativity and the challenge of fitting all of us stubborn individualists into one crossword. |
6. | We will have two "guidebooks". One is about the various businesses in the village. Janice will get their addresses and I'll write to them asking them to provide incentives for us to visit their places. We'll have a list of those who choose to participate and what they offer. The other guide is more about college facilities and historic homes and businesses. It covers the entire town. |
7. | Roz wasn't able to join us but several attendees believe she may be willing to lead any willing participants in learning some senior exercises/ dance steps. Details TBD. |
8. | Jane Hay Price has proposed that we have a poster board and each of us write in the things we didn't have when we graduated. Examples are calculators, PC's, VCR's, and DVD's. |
9. | It was suggested that many of us have developed specialty passions in our lives which we'd like to share. Some are artistic, others are career related, others family related, and others are serious hobbies and adventures. We will encourage all to bring examples, photos, models, etc and to share them in the informal setting of the community center. We'll have several tables, and may be able to provide other display structure if requested in advance. |
10. | The cash bar will open at 6PM at the Springfield Country Club. We'll also have some hors d'oeurves. |
11. | We will hire a photographer who will take our group picture before dinner and will supply prints to each classmate before the end of the evening. |
12. | Dinner will be served at 7. Ellie Abboud is organizing our choices for a four course sit down dinner. |
13. | Nancy Gowing has recruited John Davidson to sing and play for us after dinner from 8 'til 9. We appreciate Nancy's gift to us. |
14. | After our entertainment, we'll have some time for more interaction. |
15. | At about 10, we'll have any announcements and a special event. |
16. | By 10:30 we'll need to begin wrapping up the evening. At least by that time, we'll need to know who plans to join the Sunday Brunch activity. We'll need to leave the country club by 11 PM. |
17. | Nancy Graham is developing Sunday Brunch Plans; details TBD. |
